3500 Dually or 2500 Single Rear Wheel?
We are looking to full time RV in the next 18 to 24 months in a new Solitude 369RL. Starting to get my ducks in a row and need to decide on what truck to buy. I am pretty much decided on a Ram 6.7 diesel either a 3500 dually or a 2500 SRW. I would really like to go with the 2500 crew cab SRW 4x4 in the short box.
I know the 3500 dually is the best truck for the job but I really like the idea of the SRW maneuverability when not towing.
I really like to get your opinion, especially those people who have a Single Rear wheel 2500. Thanks

I seen loaded pin weights reported for the Solitude 369RL at 3200# and more. With that amount of pin weight you'd be most likely exceeding the rear axle weight rating of a 2500 truck. If you were to look at a 3500 SRW you'd have about 1000# more rear axle capacity available. The 3500 DRW would offer lots of payload capacity for the 369RL or about anything else you'd ever choose. If you're starting with a clean sheet of paper, it be best to choose the truck capable for the job...3500 SRW or 3500 DRW.

If your going full-time as you say, get the dually. The stability while towing is superior to the srw. Plus when you decide for a newer rv, you won't be limited by the truck.

We had a 2500 GMC and it pulled our 369 well on some very long summer trips. However we plan to full time in a couple of years and just bought a 3500 SRW GMC. The thinking is we are not carrying as much weight today as we will be in the future. So we upgraded our tow vehicle now.

Just got a new 2014 3500 DRW Ram and traded the 02 GMC 2500 HD. Both diesels. Haven't towed our trlr yet. There is a substantial difference in the size of the trucks. Not so easy parking! That said, surprisingly good ride in the Ram. Much better than the GMC.

I'd prefer a 3500 SRW but if I had to choose between the two options you offered, it would be the DRW. Safety first.

We're full full-time and wish we had a 3500 DRW - and our reflection isn't as heavy as your Solitude. Loaded for the road, we're right at the rear axle capacity for the truck, so have to be very careful.

We pull the 369RL with a Duramax 3500 SRW. We like you didn't want the intermittent inconvenience of a DRW. It is the hubs daily driver and there are just too many places that it is hard to maneuver. Pulls great and very happy with the 3500.

We pull our 369RL with a Duramax 3500 LB/ SRW: just did a round trip (Fl -Maine) and the truck did great, but, I have to say that when we hit the rain and high side winds, I was wishing for DRW!

I like the stability of the training wheels. Sometimes it's hard to find a parking spot for a truck with a big behind
