    Furnace Not Kicking On

The outlaws are staying with us for the holidays and I had to put the brother outlaw in the rig because it's a tight fit in the house. Lucky bastard.

The furnace has been working fine for a couple of days, but he said he was having trouble about half way through the night, it quit blowing hot. It won't blow hot at all now. Temp set at 72. Gas is in good shape to all of the burners, and I just filled both tanks. Any ideas as to where I could start to look? Feels like the pilot might not be lighting.

    BTW it's 24 degrees outside.

Thanks in advance for your help. Happy New Year!!!!

Check the valves on the tanks. Make sure both are open and the switch is on the full tank side. There is a thread here about bad street side regulators.

Looks like either out of gas or regulator issue.

Swap tanks side to side and see if the stove lights. If it does then the reg or switch is bad.

When you opened the propane, did you open very, very slowly so not to activate the safety device on the tank?

The stove will light for about 30 seconds then fade out. When swap tanks, the same thing happens.

Good point. Because i have had regulator issues in the past; I try to be gradual as possible when i open it. The regular doesn't appear to have tripped the safety device. I didn't know the tanks had a safety mechanism.

All the new propane cylinders are required to have them in they are called OPD, all the cylinders with a triangle like valve have them.
