    tying down chairs

I got my 29rs yesterday and the straps for the chairs don't make much sense. There is only one tie down between the two chairs. The strap is supposed to loop around both chairs and then be tightened down in the middle underneath the two? This is how they were but with just a 50 mile trip home they were already loose and banging around against everything.

On my Columbus each chair had a tie down in the floor on each side and you ran the strap over the seat cushion and then down. I don't see how one tie down in the center is supposed to hold two chairs on the GD. BTW on each side is an extra tie down that wasn't screwed down to the floor. It's just attached to one of the hooks.

How many tie downs am I supposed to have screwed to the floor and how are they supposed to be tied down?

    Thanks

On our first (and only) trip, I did not tie down. We left two chairs under the dinette and put two behind the island (between the slides). They all rode just fine. I will remove the straps.

On our 27RL our first 'break-in' trip was 10555 miles to Alaska and back. Going over some of the less than desirable roads did nothing to move the chairs. We did not have them strapped down at any time. With the chairs sitting on the carpet only one time did the chairs move enough that we could see that there was actual movement. Either they do not move or we were really lucky that they found their initial resting place every time we stopped.:-)

I never strap my chairs either. I have removed the straps from the floor. They never move, but then again I don't do any off-road racing with my fiver attached.

We removed the D-rings and just wrap 1 strap around the table post and the inside leg of each chair. Nothing ever moves.

To be more clear, we only carry 2 chairs anyway but we did this even when we carried all 4. Now 1 are stored away and we carry 2 wooden folding chairs under the bed in case we have dinner guests.

While driving on rough mountain roads we usually just lay them down.

We removed the straps and tie downs when we bought ours. 23 trips and over 7,000 miles, have never moved once. We do stagger the chairs a little so if they rock, they will not bang against each other or table.
Asked about the ugly straps during our pdi and dealer told us to remove them. Works great.
