    Charging Battery

I know there is a charging system within the trailer just wondering if you can add a separate charger an charge while you are still plugged in to shore power? Also if your using the generator can you use a separate charger while running on generator power? Hope all of this makes sense.

Why would you want to do that?

I spoke to a tech recently at WFCO in regards to the internal charger in the 9800 series converters that GDRV installs in our campers. He said that they are better/faster charging your battery bank than using a separate charger as it has 3 stages and can use full converter output (75A for a Momentum) less whatever 12V DC you're using. As it's 3 stage it will choose the proper stage between, bulk, adsorption, and float to properly charge the battery(s). Here's a link to WFCO for more info... http://wfcoelectronics.com/product-c...f-9800-series/

Thank you Dave for the link, but still would like to know if it will hurt anything by adding a separate charger plus using the onboard together at the same time while it is plugged in or using the generator while dry camping.

Adding a charger may cause the on board charger to quit charging cuz it thinks the batts are charged and vise versa so you may get no charging at all. My guess is they will fight each other.

This is what I am wanting to know, didn't know if there were safeguards built in the onboard charging system to prevent doing this

I think that two chargers hooked to same battery might cause problems. Our converters put out a fairly clean DC, but not pure. A battery charger puts out clipped and rectified DC

UPDATE, just talked to the WFCO company an they said I would have to disconnect the converter or it would confuse it an damage it if hooking up a separate charging device an using both. Thanks Dave for the link to WFCO. Didn't know if anybody else was interested but thought I would share what I found out.
