finish on cabinets under our 2016 337 reflection or coming off evertime we clean them
We have a Reflection (2016) that is only about 8 months old. Everytime I clean the dark wood cabinets on the island the rag comes back black and I have noticed that all the finish is
coming off in some areas, has anyone else had this problem. Also evertime we bring the dining room entertainment slide in some black pieces of plastic seem to crack and come off inside. We really love our 5th wheel but would like any answers that would help with these problems.

Yes, it appears to be a common problem and was discussed previously here... http://www.mygrandrv.com/for...sland+cabinets
It's disheartening to see that the issue is still present on more recent builds.

Hi darlclark1,
I can wipe down our island with a damp cloth and nothing comes off (I just tried it to be sure).
It sounds like a top coat was missed on the finishing of your island.
I would suggest that you contact Grand Design directly or post your concern in the manufacturer's corner / tech question section which is the only part of this forum that Grand Design monitors.

I started the thread that Dave linked to above. Our problem wasn't with the whole island - just the insides of the cabinet doors, insides of the drawer fronts, and one end panel. The resolution for us was Minwax polycrylic protective finish in a clear matte. It's water-based but water-proof when dry, dries quickly, and is water cleanup. You'll know quickly if you try to apply it to a surface that already has a protective top-coat... it will bead up and won't cover/adhere. I hope that GD has gotten this issue addressed with the cabinet maker!!!

How did you apply the Minwax product? Brush or spray?

With a good quality wall and trim brush. I wouldn't think of using a sprayer inside the rig - the product would end up everywhere. Be prepared for some of the stain to come off on the brush and get back in your topcoat can - it won't hurt anything. Also, a little bit of the acrylic finish goes a long way...

We had to polyurethane on ours. Some of the cabinets didn't get any coat. My husbands a cabinet maker by trade. He usually puts 3 coats 2 would have been better than 0 or 1. They look great now and easy to clean. Ours is a 2016 reflection 317. We still haven't finish all the cabinets but what we have done is much better.
