Charging battery
I have my Solitude on a storage lot. The battery disconnect switch off but the battery is dead or at least not enough charge to move my slides. I don’t have access to power on the lot. I want to remove the battery and put it on a charger. Any recommendations for on the type of charger to get? I’m thinking of the Black & Decker BC15BD. Is that enough or do I need something bigger?

Hi Joe. That should be fine . That is the same one I have. I picked it up last year. When we are in storage for any amount of time, I pull the battery out and bring it home.
I will recharge 3 or 4 days before I am ready to go the road.
Good luck and safe travels

I keep the battery at home when we're not using the trailer. If the Grand Design units are like all the others I have owned, even using the battery disconnect won't disconnect everything. The CO detector pulls directly off the battery and will eventually kill the battery. I use a Battery Tender while at home. If you want to keep your battery in it while in storage, I would suggest you remove one of the battery cables.

Thank you John and John.*Keeping my battery charged with my previous RV wasn't a problem.*I always parked it in my driveway but the Solitude is a little too big. I think I will go with the Black & Decker. I appreciate your comments.*

We always pulled 1 cable off the battery as like was said there are certain items that still operate on the battery and will suck it dry in no time.

We keep our RV in a storage lot as well but I'm using a Battery Tender 15w solar panel to keep the batteries topped off. Hopefully this will end up being more convenient than pulling the batteries out when not in use.

I'm using the 15w Battery Tender. It has a built in charge controller.

I am in the same boat regarding storage and needing to keep the batteries charged. When using the Battery Tender 15W solar panel, where do you put the panel when in storage? Roof? Concerned about theft?
