Thetford toilet -- Grand Design 27RL
Most people probably already know this but for the few that may not.
My Thetford toilet bulb stopped closing completely which of course means that water would not hold in the commode.
I called Thetford to order a new spring assembly and they suggested that I purchase silicone grease and apply it to the rubber seal.
I cut off the water to the RV -- wiped off the rubber gasket and applied a liberal amount of the silicone grease to the top and bottom of the rubber seal and some on the top of the bulb -- problem solved.
Probably will do this every few months or whenever the bulb starts to get stick -- whichever comes first.

I'm experiencing the same exact issue right now. Thanks for the info.

I bought Oatey plumbers valve grease from Home Depot -- $1.97 a tube. But any brand will work as long as it is silicone "grease" -- not silicone spray.

I have similar problem with my Thetford toilet, seems it is an on going problem with Thetford. I had a similar toilet in my Jayco, had it replaced once but did not last long, finally pulled it out and threw it in dumpster and installed a Dometic, far better toilet and flushing system. Had two thetford toilets in 2 yrs, when replaced with Dometic had unit another four years with no problems still fine when we traded it for our Reflection. If I had noticed that Grand design had Thetford toilets in their units I would have had it replaced with a Dometic before I took it off lot.

The Kantleak valve has a cartridge very much like a single lever faucet. Remove the handle, remove the set screw, undo the knurled nut and the cartridge comes out the front quite easily. It can be lubricated with silicone grease (as it was when it was new) to keep it turning easily.
