Tow Truck Mirror limitations or options for 101" wide Solitude

We have a 2016 Chevy Silverado duramax diesel 3500HD 4 X 4 SRW Crew Cab with 6'6" box. Our 5th wheel purchase is pushed back til both knees are replaced--one down a month ago and one to go. I am looking seriously at the Grand Design Solitudes. A concern has surfffaced regarding the truck mirrors. I have the trailer package with the extending mirrors. They work fine with a 96" wide unit but will be wanting with a 101" Solitude. Have others had this problem? If so what is the solution? I am not anxious to be adding mirrors to the mirrors. Grand Design has to have given this some thought before putting everything on the line with a 101" design. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a 2012 F350 and have had no issues with the power extending mirrors.

As you can see from my signature, I am towing a Solitude with an'08 HD. No problems at all. As a matter of fact, I don't even extend my mirrors the whole way out.

We pull a Solitude with a F250 with the factory power extend mirrors. Yes, they could be wider, but are adequate.

I understand what you are saying with mirror limitations as with the wide bodies you can't really see right behind you when pulling straight down the road. It just takes a bit of getting used to but really isn't much of an an issue. Some folks use an observation camera for that rear blind spot. Most peeps just give the trailer a little wiggle so they can see the lane behind them. I am a wiggler and it works fine 95% of the time. When backing up you will rarely be backing straight so it is not an issue.

I think the old saying "Never check your rear view mirror because you might see what's chasing you" applies to the wide body trailers...

I wish my right mirror was just a bit further out. With that said, I can see most everything I need. Driving in the right lane 95% of the time I can see everything for sure. The only time I worry, is when passing someone on the turnpike, to then have a four banger zip around them and into the lane I'm changing back into. Happens so often it's not even funny.

Majority of your problems will be people zipping in front of you, then slamming on the brakes to hit an exit. I'll get off my soapbox now lol

By far, the best thing I did was install a rear camera, live all the time, so you can see what's going on behind you without guessing.

I want to thank everyone for the helpful replys from don't worry, to wiggling, and installing a rear camera. All give me some comfort not to worry about it. And certainly in the right lane it will be little issue. I see a always live rear camera in our future.

For my 2015 Chevy 3500HD High Country 4x4 SRW I use two clip on mirrors. I tow a 2015 369RL and like to see down both sides.
