    Bedroom Floor Vent

Today was the first day we got to play with our new Reflection 337RLS. I did find a few things that need attention. The furnace suffers the short cycling issue, however, after I let it run for 20 minutes or so, it ran just fine. But, while up in the bedroom, and the pass through storage doors open, I noticed daylight coming through the floor vent. Would I be correct in assuming that there should be a heat duct attached to the floor vent? The center vent shown in the picture isn't attached to anything.

I understand that this was added sometime ago as a additional means to return room air to the open plenum of the furnace. The only other return air to the furnace is under the center section of the hutch.

Oops...I had to read your post again. I was thinking that you were referring to the bathroom floor vent. Yes, there should be a flexible duct connected to the floor outlet in the bedroom.

I thought of that, but I couldn't see where any kind of ducting was bringing heat to the vent. It's like there is just a hole in the floor. I sent the picture to Grand Design, I'll post back here when I have the answer.

John, I think your picture is looking down through the ductwork and out through the smaller opening into the pass through. In our 303, these two openings do not line up like this. Maybe a 337 owner could comment. The ductwork should be visible overhead in the pass through storage space.

Believe you are looking into a horizontal rectangular duct. In the Momentum looks the same but the basement vent is several feet from the bedroom floor vent. As Rob said you should be able to see it from the basement/storage area.

    Hi Rob,
You are absolutely right, the picture is taken looking straight down through the floor vent. If the pass through doors had been closed, and there was no daylight in the basement, I would have never noticed it. I didn't think to look in the basement, at the time I just thought a flex duct had come off. If it wasn't in storage I would go look right now. We have been at this RV thing for 40 years, and I'm still learning new things. Thanks everyone for you help.

I just heard back from Grand Design. They stated it is an air return. Good enough for me....case closed. I am extremely impressed with their customer service.
