    Backer board for TV mount

Anyone know what is behind the wall where the bedroom TV is supposed to be mounted. I guess what I'm asking is what does GD do to reinforce the wall for a TV mount?

In my 2800 it is thin metal. I used 1" sheet metal screws to anchor. It's an ultralite so it may be different than the others.

    Steven,

Thanks for the reply. What size TV do you have hanging there? 1" sheet metal screws into thin sheet metal does not seem like much support to me.

I know that they use a galvanized sheet metal backer on the exterior walls for good screw retention...I don't think that is used on interior walls where it's probably a wood backer. You can call GDRV Customer Support at 574-825-9679 to be sure.

Without telling us which model you have, it makes it difficult to help you.

If it is a model with the hook ups in the ceiling and the sticker on the exterior wall, then it has a piece of expanded metal laminated into the wall. You can use a good magnet to find the edges, then screw into it plate wherever you want to.

If it is on an interior wall, you have to be more selective since it is wooden studding.

We have a 23" mounted. I am looking at ways to secure it when traveling. Haven't found a good method yet.

The television in the bedroom, I remove from the mount when traveling. I lay the tv face down in the middle if the bed and it does not move. I don't trust the strength of the mounting plate. Our mount is a swing out type and it only takes like 5 seconds to remove.

Like I mentioned in the other tv mount thread, this tv mount is designed for rv travel and locks in place. Its a very solid
It is worth the $s to us, tv doesn't move during travel. Don't have to remove and stow it each time we move.
Our 303 has a metal backer. 2 yrs and the tv is still solid on the wall

That's a nice mount. I installed mine with no research and don't want additional holes for a new one. Wish I would have seen it.

so I tried to screw 2 holes where it has tv backer sticker and the screws went right through, like drywall.
Can you share where you found metal backer for tv in bedroom of 303.
    thank you.
