Vehicle/trailer state registration

Just about ready to start full timing. By question is we're are current full timers registering the tv and trailer.

From what I understand, you need to register your vehicles in the same state as your drivers' licenses and legal address - you can't just pick a state to register your vehicles in. Three states are the most popular with full-timers: Texas, Florida, and South Dakota. The Escapees RV Club provides mail services and a legal address and their web site has a wealth of information on full-timing and domicile issues. Another good source of information on the topic is RV-Dreams.com.

BTW - we are domiciled in Texas with an Escapees mail service address.

Thanks for all the informative replys. Has anyone looked into using the usps for a forwarding service. They state that they will forward your mail weekly overnight to wherever you are.

You would have to check with your local postmaster on that. But I would be surprised if they will do that or would be allowed to do that.
Just sayin'.

USPS cannot supply you with a legal address required for domicile. I believe they only provide the forwarding service for a limited amount of time each year, as well. Check out Escapees, Going Postal, or one of the several mail services in business to do this in your state of preference. Texas, Florida and South Dakota have several each. I encourage you to read the domicile information available on Escapees or RV-Dreams, as well. There's more to it than just forwarding your mail.
