    369RL Plumbing Control Center

Hi, I am interested in finding out how I can fill my hot water tank without filling my fresh water tank. I would like to flush the sediment/scale out the hot water tank using vinegar using the winterize feature on the water selector switch in the control center.

    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Andy,

I can only answer specific to the Kantleak panel, but the Nautilus must have similar features,
On the Kantleak, the only way to get antifreeze or flushing solution to the fresh water tank is to open the bypass valve to the right of the main panel.
With the water heater bypass closed, the pump will draw in liquid and fill the water heater (plus the distribution lines).

For the Nautilus panel, as long as the red valve is in the 12 o'clock position, the water heater is in the loop whether feed from the city water connection or the water pump feed from the fresh water tank. For the water heater to be bypassed, the red valve has to be in the 9 o'clock position.

I have an Kantleak control panel. If I have the FILL VALVE set at "Sanitize/Winterize", Water Heater set at "Normal" and the Black Fresh Water Tank access switch set to off (12 o'clock position) I am thinking it should fill the water heater and lines but not fill the fresh water tank. Is that correct??

    Thanks for your help.

Everything will work as you say but the selector valve needs to be in the 'City' position (3 0'clock) on the KantLeak system. The 'Santitize/Winterize' use the suction of the water pump to draw bleach solution into the tank (if the tank access selector is at 9 o'clock) or to draw antifreeze into the water lines.

Here is how I would do this. Take the anode out of hot water tank then take the pressure relief valve out on top. Then you can flush out the tank by putting water in from the top and will drain out the anode port.
