Electrical smell! Bad, very scary!

Woke up at 6 AM, went to store. Got back, smell of electrical burning, smoke in interior. Disconnected from 15 amp input, found microwave breaker tripped, but believe it is more than that! Smell the same in lower compartments. Going to call GD next, Denver dealer and insurance! 2 year anniversary Friday. Any ideas?

Since micro is in your slide, I would check for damaged wires in/around slide mechanism and routing areas.

Steve after opening windows and door and changing the air inside the coach can you maybe use your nose to locate the source of the the smell. Also a look behind the cover of the power distribution panel (breaker panel) for anything loose/charred may be helpful. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you all, I will follow through on suggestions. Dealer (Windish) recommended a mobile RV repair service, called them, sound competent and caring, will be here tomorrow AM to evaluate. Liberty Mutual gave me a claim # and contact info. Stay tuned for updates! We appreciate you all!

Good news! Mobile repair service, Colorado Custom RV Repair, came to us at our church in Castle Rock, CO this AM. When you see an almost new Chevrolet Duramax pulling a beautiful black 16' by 8' trailer with awesome big beautiful graphics, it gave me the impression that I was in good hands. Jimmy, one of the owners, got right to work verifying power input was OK. When he had concerns about that, he fired up his on board generator. We found very huge draw when microwave breaker was turned on. Replace receptacle behind microwave, did not solve. Pulled underbelly at LR corner, a Molex connector that joined Romex wire for internal coach wiring to round insulated wire for under the slide was INCINERATED! He cut that out and installed a household junction box to an internal frame rail, all is OK. I know he traveled 50 miles one way to help us, total time close to 3 hours, total bill $250.00. We are profusely grateful. Jimmy and his partner Will had worked many years at RV dealerships in the Denver area, they saw an opportunity to build a business to help customers overcome weeks or months of delays in getting scheduled at local dealerships.
His suggestion- DO NOT use microwave when you have less than 30 amp service- it overloads the connections!

The other issue is corrosion. If those connectors develop any amount of corrosion (which they do), it will build resistance. Resistance=heat.
