Final questions before purchasing a 397

I have narrowed my decision to just 2 coaches and have some final questions before pulling the trigger. On the GD side, I am looking at the 397TH, so I hope there is someone here that can help.

-Are the gray tanks plumbed together at all or is half of the holding capacity unusable if not using the rear bathroom?
-Does anyone know how the tie downs are attached, frame welded/bolted, screwed into the wood floor, etc?
-Not specific to the 397, Are there any quirks or issues you wish you would have known about before buying the coach you have?

    Thanks.

I don't know answers to your specific questions but I'm sure someone will hop in here this morning! The 397 is a beautiful rig. The only thing I can say is I think you would be hard pressed to find a more responsive company to any issues than Grand Design. We have been owners for 2 1/2 years and are picking up our second GD coach in 3 days. That kind of says it all!!! It never even crossed our minds to look at another brand! The decision was just what Grand Design are we buying now...
    Good luck in your decision!

Good luck with your decision. On my 385, the 2 grey tanks are for the galley and the main bathroom. The 1/2 bath has a combination black/grey tank for that only.

The tie downs are screwed into structural frame members with self tapping screws.

The 2 grey tanks will be plumbed to a common outlet so if you put a closed gate valve on the outlet and open the drain valves on both grey tanks, they will equalize and enable you to use the full capacity of the 2 tanks. We do this all the time when we're not on FHU sites.
