    Loud fridge - 2950RL - Anyone else?

    We're out for our third weekend in our new 2950RL and we've noticed something that is quite annoying.

    The refer makes a noticeable noise all the time. We're plugged in and running on hydro.

    It sounds like a fan or something that runs constantly whether it's loaded or cooling. It's a constant background noise.

    We have the Norcold N611VF.

    Anyone else hearing this? Is this normal?

    Jim & Dana. No worries. It is a fan that is used for venting. Since your reefer is in a slide out, you can not vent it to the roof like a non-slide out version can. Therefore, a fan needs to be used to get adequate ventilation. I know it might be a little unnerving when you first hear it, but we don't even notice ours anymore.

    Hi Jim;

    Thanks for the quick answer! It's not so much unnerving as it is annoying. Constant and quite loud when we're in a nice quiet campground...

    Our motorhome (SunSeeker 3050S) had no such issue with the Dometic unit.

    Oh well. Thanks for the insight! Other than the reefer fan noise, we're LOVING the 2950RL.

    Are you sure it's a normal loud or just normal for it to run? I've never heard of anyone complain about their fridge being loud when it's in a slide. Maybe the fans defective.

    This fridge fan noise really bothers us too. We have to turn up the TV when the fridge fan comes on. Per the second link in Jim's message, I am going to pull our fridge and compare OE fan noise to whatever is the best I can find at my local computer parts store. I have learned that these fans can have sleeve, oil bath or ball bearings. Still not sure which is the quietest in horizontal operation. Jut haven't gotten to this yet . . . .

    Your Sunseeker did not have the refer installed in a slide out. It had a roof vent, so no fan needed.

    I have a new 2016 303 RLS with a Norcold. I haven't heard a fan at all yet but so far it's only been tested in cool weather. My 2011 Forest River Flagstaff's Dometic ran a lot.

    Hi All;

    @huntr70, yes. I realize that but thanks for the feedback!

    I was poking around yesterday and see the small 4" square fan in behind the fridge. It looks like a standard computer-type fan. I'm going to source a computer whisper-fan for it and do a replacement at some point.

    @TusconJim, thanks for the links. Great info here!

    Jim, I would like to hear the results about the fan. We just bought a 2017 GD Imagine 2950. On the second trip out, that same noise started and would not stop. Later that evening, all our power went out. Not at the post outside, nor any tripped breakers, just no power. After about an hour, AC came back on and so did the refridge. except now the red light came on (showing no gas), even though we were on electric, gas was turned off. Never have used the gas. Anyway, we took it back to Dixie RV in Fl. More to come, I am sure.
