    Shower drain leaking

Thank you Honeywell. That's $20.00 well spent. Wife took shower this am and the alarm started going off. Investigation revealed the shower drain was leaking and dripping down the pipe. My question before I contact GD Monday - Is the drain for the sink connected to the shower drain before going into the pipe to the tank? If you have had to take the shower drain apart, how difficult is it?

If you remove the basement panel, the shower drain drops into a screw-on trap. From there, it goes to a Y-fitting. Just pull the panel and you should have full access where you can easily repair it. I just installed my alarm this week. Good to know it saved you.

Got the access and it looks like it's leaking right at the drain itself. Maybe the Plumbers putty failed. Gonna clean it up real good from on top and put some silicone around the drain and see if that works. My 6'2" 260 frame doesn't fit too well in the basement and getting access to the drain from below will be a challenge.

It is a battery powered alarm with a sensing cable that you can string inside the basement. If any water drips on it, an alarm will sound. I put the alarm in the bathroom vanity, and ran the wire and sensing cable under the Kant leak panel and the water pump. Not a bad investment for less than $25.

Thanks Jim. I'll check it out. Sounds like a wise addition.
