Where you headed this summer?

Unfortunately, my wife lost her job last month. As she brought in about 3/4 of our total income our plans had to be scrapped. So now we are figuring out where to cut things out of our budget and trips and vacations were one of the first things to go. Maybe next year we can take the trips we want.....

We are hoping to make the rally in Indiana. Other plans are on hold depending on what we hear from the orthopedic vet surgeon about Molly's torn ACL. Gimpy dog, jury duty, grandson babysitting, and daughter's wedding seem to be keeping us home until July.

Mittermoe, not the best way to purge all your stuff and start fulltiming. Glad you are all fine and have such a positive outlook during a rough time. Having the Momentum sure makes it easier.

dloase, Dave and Linda it's a hard time but you 2 will get through it. Quite often the job losses happen and you end up in a better position. It's just a bump until that happens. Gary and I both lost our jobs in the same months when everything tanked after 911. We still put a few $ into our sanity and did a few days close to home state park camping just to have that change of scenery and feeling of being away.

Well it is not summer yet but we are in Georgia headed North. We started in April and plan on a lobster dinner in Main and then head back to WA state via I-90. So much to see and so much time to try and see it. Hope to be fishing for salmon in the straights in July if the state and the feds can reach an agreement on catch limits.

Leaving tomorrow, Badlands- Black Hills - Yellowstone- Glacier- into Canada then loop back thru Minnesota. 2 months.

Utah, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana (for the rally), Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico and home to Arizona. About 2-1/2 to 3 months! Loving retirement.

David and Linda!! So, so very sorry about Linda losing her job!! It sure seems like I have heard a lot of that happening lately. Our son in law who is a college professor just lost his last week also. It sure stops you in your tracks and makes you back up a little. I hope she can find something quickly and get things back on track. We will sure be thinking of you..

Thanks Sandi and whittleburner. She is considering this as a vacation. A time to de-stress and collect herself.

It does seem to be happening a lot. My sister who was a dean at a small college in PA had to take a reduced job to keep her employment. In that regard I'm fortunate to be a government employee. I could make more $ in the private sector, but this is stable.

We have a camping membership that we will use. There are also several State Parks close by that we might be able to squeeze into.

Nothing until the Rally, then several sites around Michigan ending up at Wilderness State Park. From there to Hershey, PA for the camper show amongst other activities and sight-seeing. Who knows, maybe find a new Grand Design worth looking into. How many different models do manufacturers usually bring to Hershey for display?

Lot's of local trips for us this year after our big trip last year. California mostly but also a week on the Oregon coast. Next year we take another cross country trek.
