Lippert Ground Control 3.0 - 6 Point Auto Leveling

Our new 323BHS comes with the Lippert Ground Control 3.0 6-point leveling system. BEWARE, It functions differently than the 1.0 and 2.0 versions of this system, while the controller panel looks identical. So if you Google or youTube around check what version they are describing.

    My experience:

It appears you already have to be level side to side within a degree or two for this system to work. WHAT? Yup, that's right. At home, I store my RV on an un-level (right to left) surface. Its about 5 degree from level. Auto-Leveling fails while the rear jacks are setting. No problems with the landing jacks which is phase one of the auto-level process. I put boards under the wheels on the low side - now less than 2 degrees off side-to-side. Auto-Level fails again when setting the rear jacks. Hmmmm...

OK, so not a big problem. I put the controller into Manual mode and adjust the RV to level by moving the two front landing jacks and the two rear jacks. All is well in manual mode. Its Level. But, the middle pair of jacks are still up. I want them down to stabilize the unit so I can feel better about opening the 4 bump outs. There's no dang way to control them! There's nothing I can do to manually move the middle jacks.

I fire off an email to Lippert and get a quick response: The two middle jacks can not be manually controlled. They only come down after auto-level successfully levels the unit using the front and rear jacks. Hmmm sucks for me, I can't get auto-level to work. I guess I don't get to use the middle jacks.

After more testing to understand why auto-level failed - I figured it out! MY problem was that the rear jacks descended to different lengths. One had to extend about two inches longer than the other to hit the ground. With both rear jacks up, I put blocks on the low side rear jack so when the two rear jacks extend, they extend the same length. TA-DAAAAA! It worked. AND the middle jacks came down automagically once the rear and front leveled the unit.

So to use your auto-leveling system - FIRST make sure the RV is level. And make sure the stroke (extension length) of each rear jack is equal, or your middle jacks will stay high and dry

I'm happy all 6 jacks are down now - but I'm wondering if the technology is worth it. I'd also like to see the algorithm Lippert uses to do the auto leveling. They must use the leveling sensor plus stroke length of the jacks. Interesting.

My guess is that you were asking the low side jacks to extend past spec, I find a couple of blocks solves this problem which it seems you found out.

I never got the ***Out Of Stroke*** error message. So I'm assuming the jack wasn't fully extended. I only ever received *** Auto Level Failed ***.

Are you certain you didn't accidentally order the auto-unlevel system?

Hopefully this is an anomaly and customer service will get you fixed.
