Looking for Bike Rack and Bike Cover Recommendation

I am looking at purchasing a platform bike rack (supports wheels) for use with my truck and 27RL. I have looked at Swagman and Curt and wondering if they will hold up to being on the back of the RV.

I would also like to know what bike covers have or have not worked out.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I just bought the Swagman Trailhead 4RV, not a platform rack, but the only hanging rack I could find that says it's RV rated. I'm still going to attach a safety cable to the bikes and trailer just in case. I've read some reviews that weren't too positive, but many that were. It seems sturdy and solid so we'll see how it goes next week when we load it up and head out on our next trip.

On my cougar I ran a ratchet strap from the top of the bike rack to the bumper. That took all the wiggle and bouncing out of the rack. The camper will still bounce as you drive, but the rack won't bounce separately.

I have the 2" receiver on my 303 and use the Yakima platform (2 bike) style. Switches easy from the trailer to the truck... Not cheap but I bought it at REI when I had my dividend check and a members 20 percent sale... So I cut the price in half basically. Works great.

We haven't found our "perfect" cover, yet, but like mentioned above, we have a Swagman rack that's approved for RV use. It has about 7,500 miles on it with some pretty bad roads in the mix. We've been very happy with it and the bikes are easy to get on and off. If your 2015 reflection has a bumper rather than a frame-mounted receiver, DO NOT use one of the bolt-on receivers for a bike rack. You'll end up dragging the bikes, rack and bumper down the road on the pavement.

I've used the 1-Up bike rack for a couple of years and it is super easy to use and seems very heavy duty. A number of my biking friends have it as well and we all love it.

We have a Saris Freedom 2 bike rack. It supports the wheels and it is held in the receiver by a bolt not a pin. The bolt when it is tightened, minimizes the shake of the rack. We have not used it a lot but so far so good.

Do you use any supplemental straps to secure the bikes from bouncing around or do you find the rack does a good job securing the bikes on it's own?

I ended up buying the Swagman and now have about 1500 miles on it and it is working well - Swagman Traveler XC2-RV 2 Bike Carrier with Bumper Adaptor.

The Swagman has an anti-wobble bolt that keeps everything solid. I had to add a hitch extension because a handlebar would rub the rear of the trailer - 2" Dual Hitch Extension Receiver Trailer Double Extender Tow Boat RV Motorcyle Rack Rise-Drop Adapter 4000 LB Tow

I choose it because it uses a full 2" square tube to fit in the built-in hitch receiver. I did not fell comfortable using a 1-1/4" tube with an adaptor back there.

The rack holds the bikes solidly without extra cords or straps - that said, I do use one cord "just in case".

I bought a bike cover but I am not using it now as it blocks the view of the trailer tail lights.

Overall I would say the Swagman Hich works well and is a good value.
