Not a Westlake issue but a valve stem

Started our trip to Massachusetts and at the first rest stop we made my TPMS went off reporting a tire deflating while we were stopped. Went back to check the tire to make sure it was actually leaking and it was down to 65 PSI. Not good as I could hear the air leaking. Tried to see if I had a tire failure or picked up a screw or nail and while holding the tire for balance I could feel the air. The base of the valve stem had apparently failed. Picked up the trailer and brought it home in December and this is it's maiden voyage. Has been sitting in my driveway and tires were fine when I checked them just before we left.
So thankful that I decide to purchase a TPMS because this would have been an expensive failure on the road. TPMS has already paid for itself. I'll be switching to metal valve stems after vacation.

Wow! I guess if you have tire problems, off the highway is best. I had metal valve stems installed when I bought new tires

Makes one wonder how many "Westlake tire ptoblems" were a result of this same condition? My guess is if there was a single valve stem issues there was more then likely a few more.

    Good catch!

I will not run rubber valve stems. Change out to high pressure bolt in metal. In fact my TST tpms says not to install on rubber valve stems. You have the classic case of the sensor weight breaking the rubber valve stem.

Our Westlake tires are already failing, have to inflate every 300 miles. Can't find hole in tire, so must be valve stem. Just for safety...what tire recommend? We heard Goodyear was the best.

If you have a valve stem leak or a road hazard perforation of the tire . . . your Westlake tires are NOT "already failing".
Keep the blame in the right place.
