    Change standard mattress

New member to the forum. We have a new 2016 Grand Design Reflection 303RLS that we have not used yet and my wife thinks the mattress will not be comfortable. Has anyone else done a mattress change on there Grand Design Reflection? Looking for suggestions.

Hi Bowtie, and welcome to the forum! That 303 is a very popular model. Your wife is correct and those mattresses are not very comfortable. Most folks just switch them out or put a topper on them. Here are some links that I found using the search function for the forum. Hopefully, they will answer your questions:

Hey T-Jim, I remember reading somewhere what you ended up doing but can't remember or find it.

It's getting to be time for me and I'm trying to decide if a sleep number is worth it. (Many have said so)

But seems like I read about a Gel something or other from WallyMart or somewhere. Thanks

We purchased the most comfortable residential queen, pillow top mattress we could find... Fits our 303 bed platform like a glove...

It's (quite) a bit heavier than the original... That directly increases our pin weight... And the under bed supports which allow access to under bed storage aren't quite able to lift/support the platform top... No worries though... We only keep things under there we would seldom use (but still want to bring along)... Extra blankets, towels, pillows (there's even room for Crazy Aunt Alice...)

Another residential qeen mattress here. At first We bought a good quality 3" , 5lb memory foam topper to put on the horrible mattress that came in our 303. At first it seemed doable but after 2 extended 3 month trips and several shorter ones we couldn't stand the mattress any more, memory foam or not and replaced it last summer. Should have done it from the beginning. Now the memory foam is on the residential mattress and we sleep great.

Bowtie03--we changed ours out for a residential gel mattress before the 303 tires cooled off ! Wife wanted this and we both sleep very well.......I think it is better than our home mattress/box spring combination. Best thing we did other than the wine rack (wife wanted that too !)

We also tried a memory foam topper for our mattress and it worked for a while but soon became like sleeping in a trench. It was the mattress not the topper. Tried a few memory foam mattresses at Sleep Country and found one we liked. No comparison, should have done it before wasting money on a topper.

Denver Mattress, we went to the store in Corpus Christi, bought their basic memory foam store brand about a year ago. It has been great, but a little heavier for storage access. Cost was about $350.00, has a 15 year warranty. Lippert actually paid for half, I will be glad to share details!

Costco or Amazon online has some good memory foam mattresses. The 8" worked perfect for us from Amazon and we love it. Changed the day we picked it up

I just bought a quality 3" gel memory topper with a 10 year warranty and a nice thick mattress pad. Second year in and it's still nice and comfy without adding much weight. Stock RV mattresses are just not conducive to comfort or longevity. I will say that compared to the last RV I had this mattress is leaps and bounds above.
