    328M. Fuel pump quit working

I've been using the gasoline in the tank to fill the mower, cycle, etc. I went to use it today and the pump doesn't work and the light doesn't come on. I called Grand Design and they suggested looking in the front compartment under the plastic cover for the breakers. Yes, I see several breakers there but I'm not sure which one it is. I also looked in the fuse panel inside the trailer and all the breakers/fuses appear ok. I used the pump a couple weeks ago. Anyone else had this issue?

Could be a common problem that these pumps experience, the plastic gears swell up and stop turning. I have replaced mine once and sanded them down the last time. You can buy a rebuild kit for them. Mine usually pops the fuse though when it stops turning.

This is the first tank of fuel with the trailer. When I turned the switch on, there was no light and no sound of a pump running. It has to be something simple. There must be another fuse somewhere.

your issue sounds more like a power problem, fuse or wiring. I do agree with tmm2good about the common problem with gears swelling. Happened a couple times before my dealer recommended pulling the gears and sanding them real good. It just gives room for swelling and causes no problems. I'll be pulling mine out of the new th as soon as I get the time. "preventative"

I don't mean to hijack the thread but have a question. It was my understanding that gear swelling occurs when fuel containing alcohol is run through the pump and left in the system. I am only running pure gas through my tanks hoping to avoid this problem. For you guys that have had problems, were you using pure gas only? Any thoughts on this?

It does sound more like an electrical issue in this case.

I've never heard of the pure gas theory bu it could be. The dealer on my previous toy hauler told me it was the Texas heat extremes. Sanding the gears is an easy fix and solved my problem.

I had not heard the pure gas thing either, i just use regular gas from the pump around here. I had called the pump manufacturer originally, and they told me they had started using a different gear that did not swell up, but my replacement gears stopped and then worked fine after a little sanding.

Thanks for the replies! I will be ready to sand mine when/if the problem occurs.

Instead of putting my hitch in, taking the trailer to dealer, and waiting....I sent the switch assembly to ECI Fuel Systems. They determined that the safety shutoff was faulty and sent me a whole new assembly. It took me about 2 minutes to plug the new one in and put the screws back in. Works great now.

Thanks for the follow up, glad it was a easy fix for you, even though it took some time.
