    Grand Design steps up again

We were having issues with our A/C unit not cooling... (I've posted some sordid details here previously...)

Our biggest problem lay with our local dealer and their lackadaisical approach to getting us reunited with our new trailer...

Another problem came up when the dealer finally got around to ordering a replacement A/C... the Dometic units were on backorder...

I had come up with the idea of replacing the A/C unit with whatever fit/whatever's available... so when I called Jerry regarding this idea, he told me my A/C had shipped out the day before... typically, due to weight, the A/C units go out 'truck'... GD did me one better by sending it UPS ground (two-and-a-half days from GD to my dealers door).

Brad from GD customer service then called to find out any details he could regarding my side of the story, he also called the dealer on my behalf and asked them to reach out to me regarding an install date. (never got a call from the dealer...)

We picked up our trailer a couple days ago only to find GD had sent us an unexpected upgrade... we now have a Dometic 15K A/C (along with a heat pump)...

I never once had an issue with Grand Design's customer service, they were doing all they could to keep things progressing... if only the dealer had told GD what they needed...

Props to Grand Design going over and above to help us out...

That's what should be in them anyway. At least 1.

So glad you are getting repaired! Just another great example of how GD does NOT forget who we are after the sale!

Such service levels is unparalleled in industry. Now if they'd just put 15K btu a/c units in every fifth wheel, we'd all be happier.

I still believe they should do away with the ducted a/c units and put residual mini-split a/c heat pumps in trailers--with the compressor mounted high on the rear. An evaporator/a/c head unit could go high on a wall in each room. Fifth wheels would be a foot lower and they couldn't be any more unreliable than RV a/c units. I see mini-split units in use all over the world.
