    EquaFlex Suspension Connection Points

An FYI for everyone. Check all of your nuts on the suspension, often. I obviously lost a nut and in the process the spring hanger was bent and cracked. Luckily I caught it before I hit the road again, it certainly could have been worse. I contacted JD at GD and he was very good about calling Lippert, pronto. I must say, so far Tara at Lippert has been helpful, looks like she found a mobile tech to do the work.....Now if Lippert could just improve on quality....Click image for larger version.

I would also check the torque on the U-bolt nuts

I echo your suggestion to check the connection points. I was checking my wet bolts in May when I noticed that the nut on the rear spring connection was barely on the bolt. It was easy to fix, but if I had not seen this it would have come loose while traveling. My hanger was widened out to the nut, but did not have any serious bend or sign of cracks. I only have about 8,000 miles on the trailer and I would not have looked for that kind of loosening in the first 12,000 miles of travel. I honestly do not know if it loosened or was just not tightened fully during manufacture. I intend to check it regularly on longer trips.

I have only pulled ours 4855 miles. Now I will check monthly......or more often. Sad thing is, we shouldn't have to......something is wrong with the state of manufacturing in Indiana...

Gosh the hits just keep coming today. With our 3 class c mini homes we never had any of these issues to worry about - in this day in age we should not have to even think about these problems let alone experience them - trailers need to get out of the ice age

When our unit, a 2015 305RE was brand new, I spent some time underneath it just looking around. It turned out that several of the critical bolts and brackets were loose. We also had the famous grease on brake linings problem, for which we did get the majority of a $ 950.00 bill reimbursed from Lippert, after contacting Grand Design. ( At the time of the malfunction, it was less than 1 year old ).

I don't know how the real owner/owners of Lippert can sleep at night.

Gordo, you have given us some great advice. Most of the issues on our GD undersides are visually apparent, and a few minutes rolling around on a creeper or using a big piece of cardboard is a good plan.

Lippert was bought by a conglomerate years ago but is still ran by the grandson of the founder. I suspect they all sleep well in really soft beds in REALLY big houses. Dreaming of the bottom line, of course....
