Axle brand/make?
Wasn't sure where to post these question. Does anyone know what brand/make the axles are on the GD Reflections? Are they Lippert or Dexter? (If trailer specific I'm asking in regards to a 30BH).
Also are they considered Heavy Electric or Light Electric brakes (not sure what size brakes we have either)?
Any idea what voltage is required to activate them fully?'17 Reflection 30BH

Lippert Axles for sure. Probably 5200 lb, but maybe 6000 lb . . . will be noted on the label at the centre of the axle.
Not sure of the heavy vs light brake designation. The brakes are sized to the axle capacity.
Per Lippert Owner's Manual info 12VDC and 3 amps required to fully apply a brake.

Ok thanx guys. Reason I'm asking is in regards to brake controller use. Mine needs set to Heavy or Light mode.
Also there's some issue with the built in Ram BC so just trying to figure it out.'17 Reflection 30BH

What's funny is that you cannot look at a 5000 or 6000 lb. axle and figure out which one it is. The tubing is all the same 5000-7000 lbs. The difference is the size of the hubs and brakes.

Lippert uses the same 12"X2" brakes on 5200 lb, 6000 lb and 7000 lb axles.

But . . . Lippert uses slightly different outer bearings depending on axle rating. (Learned this on this forum . . . thanks Dave). Between 5200 lb and 6000 lb, the outer bearing is different. (Don't know about 7000 lb bearings). Brakes are all the same as Nick says. It does make you wonder whether the few cents saved on the smaller 5200 bearing can really justify the complexity of tracking the difference ??

Lippert lists the same 12"X2" brake assembly for 5200 lb, 6000 lb and 7000 lb axles. Some bearing sizes will be different. 5200 lb and 6000lb hubs have 6 lugs. 7000 lb axles have 8 lugs.
When I went from 5000 lb to 6000 lb brakes on our old unit's Dexter axles, the only difference I could see was magnet size.
You might want to ask FCA about the heavy and light settings, it might have more to do with trailer weight than brake size.Nick and Nancy

I can tell you that Mike and Debbie would "file 13" the smaller 5200 outer bearing.........or maybe it would be the re-packer.

Thanx everyone, great info. Has anyone here with a Ram had issues with their integrated brake controller on the "Heavy Service" setting? If I understand it correctly the issue is that it won't provide the necessary voltage below 30mph to fully engage the trailer brakes. Something to do with a faulty "Gain" setting.
