Grand Design new entry step design?

Any opinions yet on the new "Tread-Lite" entry steps? My first encounter with them was...they were heavy and hard to open and close. I'm hoping the salesperson that showed them to us didn't know exactly how they are supposed to work. Just wondering if anyone has had experience with them yet, and if there is a trick to opening and closing? Our new RV should be here soon.
    Thanks,
    DaveL

I think the new steps that you are talking about are TorkLift (not Tread Lite which is an LCI product)

Been to three different Grand Design dealers and only one salesperson was able to close the stair and get them locked into place ready for travel.

Well all the time you save trying to get the level up system to work you can apply to trying to deploy the steps.

A couple months ago, I installed the TorkLift steps in my current trailer. in that application, I had "lifted" the trailer and therefore needed a 4th step, going to Torklift's design seemed logical. Logical, but a more expensive option. In the end, worth every penny!

Today I will negotiation price on a new 303RLS and feel going back to "bouncy" steps is a "step" backwards. Yes, the TorkLift steps do not open like conventional steps, but they are not conventional steps. You just about have to use 2 hands, but for me (YMMV), it has been well worth the increased stability. First multi-hundred dollar upgrade will be a Progressive Industries hardwired electrical management system, the 2nd (next month's?) will be the TorkLift steps.
