Massive problem 2017 398m frame bent bad due to hydraulic leak lippert autolevel

    Hello,

I purchased a Brand New 2017 Momentum 398m from Blue Dog RV last week. Took it out on its first journey and had a MAJOR issue happen overnight. While I was sleeping I felt the toyhauler shift and made some really weird creaking noises. I went outside to find my autolevel jacks had BENT THE FRAME (Please see all attached photos). As you can see my campsite was relatively level. I found two hydraulic jack lines were leaking at the pump block and I am thinking this is what caused all this damage. Has ANYONE ever seen anything like this before. 5 out of the 6 jack mounts are bent and the I beam has stress cracks now. The I beam frame is bent. I am just not sure what to do, this is VERY VERY Irritating and I will be calling Grand Design 1st Thing Monday Morning. Click image for larger version.

Here are some more pictures. Someone asked me if the tires where off the ground? No they where not and I don't even think that would be possible with the Lippert autolevel system. My thinking is even if ALL 6 tires where off the ground shouldn't the aluminum jacks or the hydraulic ram bend before the Structural part of the frame? Maybe I am blowing this out of proportion, but this looks REALLY REALLY Bad to me. Any thoughts PLEASE.

I think it is really, really bad. (IMO)
To answer one of your questions, yes you can lift all 6 tires off the ground, guy with a 380 has his that way here in the RV park.
Long term not good for the frame and you shouldn't do this.
If you had a hydraulic line give up here and then there, I could see this happening shifting weight around the trailer.
I have never heard of this happening before.
I know from my own experience that the auto level can be out of sync and after letting it do its thing you need to take a level and check and fine tune and then reset auto level.
Sorry this happened and good luck in getting this fixed (new trailer).

Are you absolutely sure it wasn't like that before you picked it up? There must be more that happened before you got it cuz that shouldn't happen just sitting there on a camp site doing normal stuff.

I agree with Jim...hard to imagine that happening during the normal operation of the hydraulic auto-level. GDRV has had this system on Momentums for 3+ years and I've never heard of a similar problem. I can see this may happen if the unit was moved/shifted with all the gear down.

I'd be thinking along the same lines as Jim (JCR GD) . . . this kind of damage doesn't happen sitting in a campsite, no matter what the hydraulic jacks decide to do. Maybe an "off road excursion" by the delivery driver between GDRV and your dealer ???

Those frames are tough. When the semi got into the back of my previous rig, I wiped out the back slide and end cap, but didn't hurt the frame

    Maybe,

They showed me the autolevel at the dealership and the unit wasnt working correctly. They replaced the autolevel control box as they stated it was defective. I never watched it work after that.

It shifted side to side to the point that it woke me up. If it where moved with the landing gear down, I would think they would be bent forward to backwards, not side to side like it is. I really don't know, its very very frustrating. I cannot wait to get someone on the phone tomorrow and send them some pictures. Mine cannot be the only one that has had this problem. This is why I posted this issue.
