Need a Kant Leak expert opinion

We have been shaking this RV down the road for the last 6,000 miles and 2 months this trip and noticed I was seeing some wet carpet by the Kant Leak fixtures. Know of fix? It has been dripping on the wiring to the slide lights (which I've now zipped tied out of the way.Click image for larger version.

    Hi Mike,

All you need to know is in the attachment (I have posted this on other threads as well)
The new 1/2" IPT brass Tee is available at any Home Depot or similar.
Whole job will take a couple of hours.

Mine wasn't leaking at the nylon fitting, it was from the hose leaving the centre of the fitting, not the threads on the fitting itself. Instead of PEX line a short piece of hose had been used with PEX clamps. Although I did change to a brass fitting while I was at it, a new piece of hose with doubled hose clamps fixed my leak.

Had same issue. Seems that the PEX clamps don't really work that well with the that hose(because it's not PEX tubing!).

Not surprising that Pex clamps would fail to secure a hose connection. I doubt that the hose and Pex IDs would even be the same.
This problem did not occur to me because all piping in my 303 is Pex. My experience (boat) with what I assume to be braid reinforced clear hose, is that it flows/squeezes from under the clamp, so you will have to periodically tighten the clamps . . . or replace this hose with the more permanent Pex.

    Mike,
Your leak is exactly at the same connection that mine leaked. I personally have over the years had more leaks with pex/pex clamps attached to plastic fittings than any other combo. To solve the problem, I purchased brass fittings (found at any Lowes/Menards/HD) and used a new piece of pex and a pinch clamp. Actually, I gutted all the plastic fittings found behind the Kant-Leak face board and installed all brass fittings. No more leaks.

We are out on the road another 2-3 weeks, so with Robs diagram I will tackle this when I get home and it's sitting in the storage - prior to heading to Indiana for the rally.

    Hey Rob,
It's my turn to repair this leak, and I just want to make sure I buy the correct brass tee. You mention 1/2" IPT. Is IPT internal pipe thread, with standard female NPT connections?

    Thanks for all your help!

After several minutes of trying, and even using those magic words that can't be repeated on a family forum, I gave up on trying to release the PEX cinch fitting on the line coming off the branch of the plastic tee. I used a PEX tubing cutter to cut that line as closely as I could to the tee, which left just enough of the PEX tubing for the Shark-Bite fitting to grab onto. Even after I had the new tee installed and everything put back together, I couldn't get that flipping PEX cinch fitting off. I just wanted to see if it was possible, and in my humble opinion it is an exercise in futility. Maybe I wasn't holding my tongue right or something.

Another thing I think worth mentioning is, when I went to remove the plastic pipe tee from the valves, I found the water heater bypass valve only snugly threaded into the plastic tee. Call me crazy, but I think if whoever assembled the valves and tee had put another turn on the tee going to the water heater valve there wouldn't have been any leak there.

Thanks for another great write-up, Rob. This one saved me a few bucks not having to call a mobile RV serviceman. Sorry, serviceperson.
