If you're using the "New Posts" feed, a post won't show up unless there's new activity since you visited it last. If you go to the Electrical System & Wiring sub-forum, you'll see it.

    Thanks Rob.

Just ordered a remote switch with 2 fobs. One for the 5W and one for the truck for when we get back in the dark.

Does anyone know how many watts the awning lights might use?
I need to run some wire and based on the awning wire, it looks like pretty thin gage.

Depends on size of the LED strip. Looks like a fair estimate is between 4 - 6 watts per foot.

    Thanks again.

BTW, the old outside speakers, just like the inside ones, were wired out of phase.

So for anyone complaining of poor sound this would be step one, check for phasing. But since you are there anyway, might as well replace the dollar speakers that come from the factory, lol

I replaced the 5.25" inside ones with 8" and the measly 3" outside ones with 6.5", both infinity marine reference coax. Now there is bass and no rattling. When the Jensen dies, in will go a nice kenwood unit.

I will use the load circuit of my solar controller to power the awning lights with the remote switch. The switch is rated for 6A and the load circuit for 20A. I'll probably use a 5A fuse before the switch...and find out if I should have done the math instead, lol. Given the thin gage wire at the led strip, I'm willing to gamble on it.

Neat thing about my solar controller is I can set it so the load circuit only works when it gets dark and that it draws power from the batts directly. So the voltage will not be at charging levels...
