does the battery on trailer charge from tow vehicle?

This may be a dumb question. I am a new owner of a 2950rl and never had a travel trailer before so still figuring things out. Does the rv battery charge when hooked to tow vehicle from the 7 way connector. I want to be able to open up and close the slides while it is in storage with no hook ups around.

If you are going to store your trailer for prolonged periods I would highly recommend getting a solar battery maintainer. Your battery will last much longer and always be charged for your next trip or maintenance.

Yes, when the truck is running. Depending on the make, model & year of truck for charging while truck key is off. I think most, if not all, newer trucks turn off with the key.

    OR
Turn off the battery disconnect when in storage. With the battery disconnect off there will be little to no power draw to the battery.

I tow with a 2002 Dodge Ram 2500. It does have an RV / trailer circuit and relay installed from the factory. 12V is always present on the 7 way connector, truck on or off. So if I left the RV electrically connected to my older Ram for a very long time, it could drain down the trucks battery. Fortunately my Ram is a Cummins diesel so it has 2 huge batteries. Not that I would ever leave it connected that long. Newer Rams I think the 12V circuit turns off with the key.

The truck wire with the 12V circuit the leads to the 7 way and then to the RV controller which in turn charges the RV's battery is very small and cant supply many amps to charge a dead or very low RV battery. So its advisable to always have a fully charged RV battery. In my case since the 12V circuit is constantly on when the truck is connected to the RV, it is advisable to disconnect the 7 way plug when shore power is connected the RV.

So my take on it - Depends on the make of the TV and the year.

On some vehicles, it will not charge the trailer battery unless a relay or fuse is plugged in. You can always check to see if charging voltage is available on your tow vehicle by measuring the voltage between pins 1 & 4 on the seven way socket of your truck.
