    Priming generator

I disconnected my generator fuel tank a few months back to do some insulation work. I put the tank back in several months ago.
Just went to use this weekend.... i lost prime from the tank.... i have tries multiple times to use prime button. Generator wont start. I un hooked hose coming from tank at the generator no gas coming out...
Is there a special way to get this primed.

I squirted gas into carb on generator from squirt bottle and genie fires right up...

    Thanks in advance for input

Where the hose attaches to the tank, is there a shut off valve there? I'm assuming it's a gas fired generator?

If there is no valve (which I would find amazing) then you might have a clogged line. Sounds like it's something very simple.

How much gas is in the tank? For us it took over five gallons for the initial prime.
