Dodge 3500 owners quick question about turning w/ trailer

    Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting a 3500 w/ crew cab and a standard 6.4 bed, my question is how is your turning radius when the trailer is attached.. meaning how close does it get to your cab? Is a slider needed?

    I'm looking at a momentum 350M btw..

My Ram 3500 turns quickly, it is a long bed, DRW. I trade a 09 for a 14. The the 14 turns much quicker than the 09

The front cap on the Momentum is designed to allow tighter turning with a short bed, but some still find a slider advantageous.

That said, if you can, get a long bed. A lot of folks are intimidated by the length. I drive a 3500 CC/LB/DRW though a narrow security gate 2x almost every day and get through fine. The advantages in towing outweigh the disadvantages.

Ahh gotcha Ram thank you! I guess I just prefer a short bed because I do plan on going on offroad trails / areas where turning around might be tight already with a short bed.

How do you like the Aisin transmission?

I owned a 3500 Long bed with the Aisin...worth the money, plus the only way you can get maximum engine power as RAM derates it for the other transmissions (at least in 2013)

Yeah I'm definitely looking for the Aisin.. I really want to find a unit with auto leveling rear but I think I may just go aftermarket on that..

I added a set of Timbrens to my 3500. It handles my 379 well

It's a great transmission. It's been bullet-proof for us. Only maint. has been a drain (using brain bolt) and fill at 30K miles (at just over 37K now) and a pan drop/filter replace/refill at 60K.

A truck like ours has the maximum towing and carrying capability available in the truck. Anything else won't carry or pull as much. The way we look at it is that the truck has 4WD to get us out of bad spots we may find, or keep us going in snow/ice, but our Polaris RZR 800 is for the real off-road action.

One thing to consider is the width of the fiver. Not sure about the Momentum, but the Solitude is 6" wider than the Reflection. With a 6 foot box, you wouldn't need a slider with a Reflection, but probably would with a Solitude.

I have the SB CC and use the Anderson Ultimate hitch. I can crank my 337RLS to full 90 degrees with no issues.
