A/C cycles on and off prematurely

I notice occasionally our bedroom air conditioner will prematurely cycle on and off. It will run for a few minutes than turn off for only one ore two seconds. Run for a couple of minutes than repeat. I thought it was caused by the cold air hitting the thermostat so I redirected the vents but it didn't solve the problem.
Sometimes it will run perfectly. It is still covered by warranty. Before I contact my dealer I thought I would post it here first to see if anyone may know the cause.

The unit is trying to see if it can get by with the low fan setting - commonly complained about and discussed on the forum. You can set the fan to run full-time or put up with it. We find it only happens in a narrow temp range... any hotter or cooler outside and the AC isn't in this "zone of indecision."

It does seem to happen as you describe. I thought there was a problem with it. Good to know. Our unit has been trouble free so far.
    Thanks Rob

I found that both of my AC units was doing the same thing. Run and then shut off for only a few seconds and then right back on again. At the time I was in El Paso Tx where the temps was in the low 100's and thought that maybe it was just having a hard time keeping up.

In conditions like that is it better to put the AC on Auto or does it matter?

Some folks like to set the fans on high (constant) and put the thermostats back in AC mode. That way, the fans run all the time. I'm from the El Paso area (Las Cruces) and when staying there to visit family, I don't change anything. I'd rather have the fans cycle off with the ACs that run continuously. It's just how these RV ACs work. I don't know that there is a "better" (though I might be corrected by an RV HVAC tech...).
