    PullRite SuperGlide Hitch Movement

    Hi all,

Quick question for anyone with a PullRite SuperGlide hitch. Is there something that needs to be done to keep the hitch stationary when not in use? For example, often times if I have to brake or accelerate suddenly, the hitch will shift and slide forwards or backwards. Again, this is happening when not being used to tow. Any ideas if I'm missing something to keep it 'locked' in place, or is that just what it does? I cringe every time I hear that thing slam. My cover for it will arrive on Wednesday, so I'm hoping that helps a bit.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I also experienced the same issue with my super glide hitch. I solved the problem by using a couple of bungee cords over the hitch. Never moves when the cords are in place. The cords stay in the back
If the truck when I am towing. Simple low cost solution.

There is a large stopper in the front to do just that.

Read the owners manual. It tells you to adjust the stopper every so often to keep the hitch from sliding.

Scott--I have adjusted the front large bolt/nut adjustment huntr70 referenced twice in nearly 8000 miles towing. We just got back to SD from towing over 1600 miles to Colorado and up/down 150 miles of mountain roads and it is still snug. When not towing, I also use a bungee cords on each side of the hitch installed between the front bed rail and small hole under the hitch head as a backup to ensure no hitch rotation and then loud banging if it would slide to the rear or front !

Thanks, all! Do I just tighten the bolt/nut mentioned to help stop this? How do I know what is the proper adjustment?

    Thanks again for the help.

When my SuperGlide was brand new the friction between the hitch head and the jam nut was so much that I couldn't move the hitch by hand through the top of it's range of motion. So, it should be QUITE tight....

As an aside, where in Colorado are you?

Great to know, thanks! I'll be making these adjustments next weekend when I have time to monkey around with it. I've secured it with bungee cords for now.

We're in Littleton currently, but in the final stages of selling our home (taking advantage of the crazy Denver market) and full-timing for the next few years. Born and raised in Manitou and most of my family is still there. Colorado will always be home!
