    Tail Light Mod

Got rid of those ugly boat trailer lights on the back of my Reflection. Bought 2 https://www.amazon.com/Bargman-47-84...=1&*entries*=0 and 1 https://www.amazon.com/Trailer-Licen...BRQVCMVM6YGE38.

    Installed today:

Looks great and I feel better that drivers behind me will be able to see me better.

    Hi Ron,

I would like to do something similar but and new to changing things on the exterior. I have two questions?

    1. What product do you use to create the waterproof seal around the newly installed lights
    2. Do you use some special type of screw when putting holes into the exterior?

I want to install some additional rear lights and also fix my rear camera power but am uncertain about the above items so I can't make any forward progress.

    Thanks

Ron, your statement about "ugly boat trailer lights" cracked me up! But you nailed it. Overall, Grand Design has done a real good job building classy looking (and functioning) trailers, refinement in selection of some components is still needed. Thanks for posting, I've saved both items in my Amazon "Wishlist!"

To seal the new lights I used black silicone, factory had used clear on their lights. I used black sheet metal screws bought at hardware store that matched those used by factory. I have not tackled the rear camera power yet.

Thanks for this Ron (and your FB post) I noticed last weekend how inadequate the factory lights were and wondered about replacements.
With your part numbers, I was able to satisfy my frugal nature and picked up the Bargman lights for under $36 each.

Now to see about the license plate hanger!

Ron, been trying to find led tail lights that would work on my Reflecton. How did you solve the spacing issue between the ladder mount? My ladder mounts inside are 8 3/4 inches and the retro lights are 10 inches.
I have ordered the lights. If you made them work , so can I.

I cut some 1/4" black plastic slightly larger than lights. It gave me an 1/8" reveal around the lights. I notched the spacer on the right side to fit around the ladder legs. I finished off by caulking around the mounted lights with black silicone.

Ron did the same thing. bought them on amazon and only took an hour. only one problem got the lamps installed and forgot to install the license plate mount, had to take off the left lamp again and wire it together. keep up the great posts. i will try to keep up.
