Getting Closer

Today I pulled the trigger and ordered a 2017 F350 Platinum; it will hopefully arrive in ten weeks. This is step one towards getting a 337 for our home away from home.

Has anyone ever ordered from a local GD dealer to get the local service, but driven to the factory to pick it up? I'd love to save the $5k delivery and see the factory.

Congrats on the new truck. I have heard GD doesn't do factory P/U but I'm sure someone else will confirm.

Good Luck with that. Haven't heard of that being possible with any manufacturer.

I ask in June on my factory tour and the answer was NO...

Hello,
You would have to get the dealer to let you use their commercial license. This is quite rare but can be done (I did it because my brother in-law works for a generous dealer). You will have to purchase a transport permit also (just a few bucks). GD doesn't know if you're the customer or not if you have the proper documents.

Most RV manufacturing companies have a fixed delivery charge to keep competition fair for dealers further away from factory.

a $5K delivery fee ?? Never heard of that.

You're right, it was $3829. In CA, I am about as far from the factory as I can be. I also would rather not have someone towing it back that is paid by the job, towing at 80. I guess it would shake everything loose before the PDI.
