    Propane tank closets, 2017 337rls

Just wondering if anyone else is thinking the same. I find it strange that the bottom of the propane enclosure is wide open to the elements. I understand that propane is a heavy gas and any leaks will migrate out the bottom, but I'm concerned about critters, squirrels, wasps, making a home up there with the tanks. I'm probably going to silicone in some vinyl screen to close it off, just wondering what anybody else has done.
Already have resident spiders up there, henceforth the wife won't open the enclosure.

I never gave it much thought. I think it would be fairly easy to close up if you want to. I'd recommend installing a vent if you decide to seal it

I modified one of my tank closets with a plywood floor. It makes it easier to sling the full tank into the closet. There are still plenty of open gaps to allow air inside. The other advantage I found was that it is a convenient place to store a few tools that may be needed in a hurry w/o hunting them down.

I had a Rockwood 5th wheel before this one. The propane closets were enclosed and I didn't see a vent anywhere. I thought that was strange but I never had any issues. If I close it in I will install a vent. Screen is my first option, full floor second.

Closing in the bottoms of these compartments is on my "to do" list as well.
They seem to collect a lot of road grime . . . particularly if travelling wet or gravel roads.
They will still have to be vented.

The only reason for vent is to allow the small amount of gas that escapes when you switch tanks or have a very hot day with a full tank

And is also RVIA compliant in case of a leak.

I just did a quick search, couldn't find what I had seen before. Someone else concerned about bird nests being built in the compartments, added wire mesh to the bottom each compartment. Would not keep out the road dirt and water, but would keep out the critters.

I'm thinking about this also. Any way you could post a few pics?

Was thinking of going to Tractor Supply and purchasing some rubber matting that you can install in horse stalls then cutting it to fit. Also was thinking of installing in the front bay
