Slide-Out Awning Toppers
What are everyone's thoughts on slide-out awning toppers? Are these must-have items or not? If so, should they be ordered with the fiver, or is it cheaper to add them yourself after delivery?

Some people swear by them. Personally, I don't like them. They make too much noise, and stuff still gets under them and on roof of slide out

Yeah, they're definitely a Ford versus Chevy kind of debate. I had them on my last 2 5th wheels and thought they were the cat's meow but I do not have them on my Reflection and am absolutely fine with that and no intent or interest on putting them on.

I have them on my 355TH momentum, they are holding out so far. The only reason I have them is to help keep the leaves and branches and such out when i retract the slides. Helps for the rain, but its a matter of time before i wear them out and then there done. I like them, but they are not required and they add weight to the camper, how much weight? I am not sure, but attempting to lighten the weight of a camper for towing? then don't do it.

Yesterday, we were walking through the campground where we are staying and looking at the trailers and coaches with them. Lots of them frayed/tattered or completely torn, and some of these are fairly new rigs. We originally thought they would be nice but opted to save the money and didn't get them. We are glad we made that decision.

Have them on our Motorhome and like them. Had them added to the 369RL.

We're glad we got em and ordered them for our next camper which we're picking up next week. Keeps the branches, sap, rain, bird crap, etc off the top of your slide out. A little bit still makes its way under but it's not much. A few campers around us don't have them and the top of their slide out looks super gunky up there. I'm overly protective though and I'm sure they don't make that big of a difference.
We were going to order them from the factory but our dealer convinced us to get the toppers through them. It was about 1K cheaper and they swore they did a better job because "the factory rushes when they put them on and does a poor job of it because of that". Not sure if that's actually true though.

Something that I noticed with the covers it helps keep the slide out ceiling cooler in the sun. I'll bet there is 15 degrees difference.

So, it sounds like as in all things RV, there are pros and cons....those that love 'em and those that hate 'em. Does anyone know what brand and model Grand Design installs?
