RVing is the only way to go!

We just returned from a few days and nights of a family vacation that a family member arranged through their time share. We had lots of fun with the family but. ...

I hate not sleeping in our own bed, the bed was so bad we had the place change the mattress and it was slightly better but still sucked. The place didn't even have kitchen towels in the kitchenette and the dining chairs were like sitting in a pit.... all that and no campfire on the tiny patio!

The past few nights drilled it home how much we love traveling in our 303 . Staying in some condo that hundreds before us stayed in that is poorly stocked really does suck.

(I'm going outside to hug our trailer

I agree 100%. I am paranoid about sleeping in strange beds.

Hotels are not fun. When we had our 385TH serviced for the leaking slideout, we ended up out of it for several nights. I looked for what I figured would be a good hotel that we could afford, and ended up at an extended-stay place. I figured that most of the people there would be business people on extended assignments, things like that. It turned out that it was mostly people that had recently been evicted and had no where else to go. Never again!

ETA - the last time I used an extended stay place was back in the 90's when my company sent me to a 10-day class at AT&T/Lucent Technologies in Dallas, TX. They've changed since then.

I know exactly how you feel. Had an early AM flight out of Denver. Hotels in the area were minimum of $165/ nite so I opted for an Extended Stay at $85/nite. Hey its only one nite how bad could it be? You know your in trouble when the sign in the front office says "We cooperate with the police". HuH never seen that before. Room was TERRIBLE, I would not let my feet touch the floor. NEVER again.

What an opportune time to discuss this...we're heading to Phoenix this weekend. We're staying in a hotel instead of towing our house with us. I'm afraid. We haven't stayed in a hotel in years.

Remember, this dirtiest thing in a hotel room: the remote. A good friend of mine is a pilot. Always puts a baggie on the remote before using it. And also lays towels down from the bed to the bathroom. Floors are nasty too.

We have gotten so spoiled we take our camper when we go stay overnight with the kids. I have a long 30amp power cord with adapters to plug into the dryer outlet at their house and cable tv splitters so we have AC & TV.

So this morning, my wife asks..."Where is the razor?" First thought that comes to my mind? It's in the bathroom honey. Yeah...if you're in your trailer. If you're not, then you have to find it. The hotel room we are in is nice. The people that work here are nice, but that bed isn't my bed, and that sofa isn't my sofa, and I really, really, really love my trailer. No more saving money by "not towing." Next time we bring the trailer.
