    axle ratings

I could not find any axle rating on the travel trailers in the brochures or online. I want to make sure they exceed and not barley meet a fully loaded trailer. I sent a email to GD so I hope they will respond. My current trailer a Keystone just barley meets it. I'm down to two trailers a Grand Design or Outdoors RV trailer.

Grand Design axles will meet the ratings for the weight of their trailers. They did have a recall on some axles for dealer inspection, but that was quite sometime ago.

In looking at the specs. for axles, from 5000 to 7000 lbs., they're all the same tubing thickness, etc. The difference is in the hubs and the size tires they use.

I knew they should meet just like to know size, found it strange not mentioned online or brochure. I usually change tires out and go to a higher rated tire if needed to help carry load, I like a little lee way.

Grand Design has many products that they manufacture. They use different axles based upon the model. If you narrow your question down to 1-2 specific models, we can probably answer your question. For example, my Reflection 337RLS had 6,000 pound axles. The Reflection 303 has 5,200 pound axles.

My 313RLTS has a gross weight of 10,995 and I think the axles are rated 5,200 lbs each. That does not leave much reserve on the four wheel positions after taking the 1,400 lbs of tongue weight (weighed ready for trip) away, even if they all carried the same weight which they do not.

I stand corrected. The axle tag on mine is also 5200#. I am considering replacing with 6000# dexter axles. I have already replace the 2600# springs with 3000# springs.

Unless something has changes there are listed with the specifications for the model line. Hope that helps.
