Solar Battery Charger for GD Travel Trailers
I noticed the plug for attaching a solar charger to the trailer. The plug has the Furrion name on it. Will any brand solar charger work with our trailers or does it have to be a particular brand? Does anyone have a recommendation on a particular solar charger?

The plug appears to only work with the Furrion panel, but there are adapters on the market. The plug connects directly to the battery (through a 10A fuse), so any panel up to 150 W should work fine once you make the connection.

Please note that you can't just plug in another panel. The Furrion panels have a built in charge controller. If you want to adapt another panel to work with the wiring, you'll either need to get one with a 10amp controller (max) or wire a controller further down in the circuit. Failure to do so could cause the batteries to overcharge and damage them or your rig.

Appreciate the information. Don't expect that we will be doing much boondocking, at least not early on.

This is what I have done.
We just purchased on GD 5th wheel and found a reasonably priced place to store it. My biggest concern was how to maintain the battery during storage with no electrical available. The camper came pre-wired for solar and the dealer actually connected the wire leads from the Furion outlet. I was able to locate the correct connection thanks to a youtube post made on RVProjects channel. The part number is Cnlinko part number LP-20-C02PE-01-001,(https://www.amazon.com/Pins-Power-Co...01M4RQ3X1).The connector has a 2 pin outlet which are numbered 1 & 2. You will need to determine which pin is connected to the hot (red wire) and which is connected to the ground (black wire) to make sure that you are connecting them correctly. I ordered the connector and soldered it to a lead from a Battery Tender cable that I had. I ordered a 15 watt Battery Tender solar charger/maintainer (021-1156),https://www.amazon.com/Battery-Tende.../dp/B004Q86JJ8 . The solar panel comes complete with a built in charge indicator and charge controller along with a set of battery clamps. I also ordered a separate 25 foot cable (081-0148-25) which I will use to be able to give me enough cable to position the solar panel on the roof while in storage. I hooked all of the system together over the weekend and it works great. They also have a small battery digital voltage indicator (081-0157) which you can use to check the status of the battery just by clipping it onto the inlet line to the battery. This will allow me to keep the battery charged while in storage and not have to worry about having a dead battery when I go to pick up the trailer for a trip. I hope that this may be helpful to you as a solution to help maintain your battery without to much expense when not having a power source handy.Last edited by 5 Happy Campers; 09-15-2017 at 04:44 PM. I just purchased a more beefier set up with a 170W 12v Solar module and 10A solar controller set up for recharging the batteries from www.Newpowa.com. Both are on sale. They do have smaller watt panels made specifically for Marine/RV's. This is not a trickle charge set up. We wanted to have full batteries while in daily use.
Like mentioned above, you will then have to buy the 2 pin female connector to plug into the Furrion port and probably some longer wire. (both can be found on Ebay or Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Pins-Power-Co...6102273&sr=8-1)
I am also going to be purchasing a Humless solar generator for nighttime and off grid power or when the gas generator has to be turned off. https://humless.com/go-series/plus/
BTW, buying a 95w panel and solar controller directly from Furrion is about $500. https://www.furrion.com/store/energy...ger-p-944.html

Hi- I have struck out with my attempts to use the Solar Battery Tender on my GD Reflection's 28BH dual batteries. The unit is not charging and is blinking an error code. How are the leads from the charging lines connected with yours? Are they connected to the positive and negative terminals to just one of one of the dual batteries as mine were from the ? The Battery Tender technical data states that the charging leads should be connected as shown in the linked diagram below.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
