Slide topper under awning

I'm likely going to be bringing home a new 350M very soon. I have slide tippers on my current 5er and want to add them to the new 350. Question is regarding the patio side slide under the awning. Will a slide topper fit under there? There are times where it's too windy so awning won't be out (not to mention the apparent weak design) but I'll still be in wooded areas so would want the slide covered.

So, can I put a slide topper on a patio side slide under an awning? I asked my salesman and he wasn't so helpful and didn't think it would work. Then again, he didn't seem to know much about anything.

I was told that one could not be put on the that side.
Usually if it gets to windy for the awning to be fully extended I will retract just enough to cover the slide out

Thanks for the info. Given the reports of damaged awnings, does it seem strong enough to take some wind when only out that far? It seems it would be much more stable? My current 5er has a different type of electric awning. It's plenty strong but when only extended a short distance the arms hang low and it seems more wobbly than when fully extended.
