    Question Dual pane windows ?

    Hello all,

We are currently looking to purchase a 348M. All the models close to us seem to have been ordered with single pane only. I understand it will be a little bit more noisy and hotter/cooler without them, but should I move forward without them and get one off the lot or order one with them? Thanks in advance for any advice. Happy to be here

I'm in Texas btw and plan on living full time mostly staying put, with a few trips throughout the year for vacation.

I was asking the same thing a while back. I learned that they only add 1 R rating and add 4-600 pounds to the unit. I was worried about condensation, but I figure a small dehumidifier will handle that just fine. Just my research and .02!! Good luck.

I've heard claims of dual pane windows adding 600lbs of weight as well (here on this forum) but when I look at the windows in my 318RST, there is no way my windows weight 1,200lbs! I bought them mainly for reduced condensation and noise. I don't think they help much for insulation.

I let the dealer talk me out of ordering a trailer with dual pane windows and that was a mistake I will not make again. You don't know the difference if you haven't had a trailer with them but remind yourself often when your new trailer doesn't have them and your older one did.

I want to compare the sticker weight of my 2014 Reflection 337 with dual panes to someone with single pane. My sticker says 10576 lb., built 3/2014, VIN is...393. I do not think that is much heavier than a single pane equipped unit, but someone please bring in yours!

I was told at Hershey by the Solitude Project Manager that dual pane added between 400 and 600 lbs depending on floor plan and they added about one R factor.

    Hello,
Do the windows still function the same ...as in open and close like single pane ones?

Was told by GDRV reps at the Rally that dual pane windows (at least on Reflection) look and operate exactly like single pane.
They also confirmed that these are sealed with inert gas between the panes . . . not just two pieces of glass.

We were also talked out of ordering these by our dealer because of weight. Quoted to us as 600 lbs.
I also would be interested in a with/without actual weight comparison.

Our dual pane windows slide up and down when opening/closing. Not sure about single pane.

There are only two windows in my rig of any size. The dining table window and the one in back. The rest are pretty small. If dual pane windows weigh 1,200 pounds as some reps have stated, these larger windows would need to weigh almost 400 pounds each. Not a chance - regardless of what reps are telling folks. There is just no way one of those windows weighs as much as a cast iron wood stove.

The added cost and the fear of the seals breaking are some reasons for avoiding dual pane windows. The added weight of dual pane windows is the last thing I'd be worried about when trying to decide between single and dual pane - and I'm pretty serious about limiting the amount of junk we put in our RV to keep the weight down - just ask my poor wife.

My 318RST with dual pane windows weighed 10,582lbs from the factory. But, I have the second AC unit, 12cf fridge, dining table, auto level system, etc. We would need an apples to apples comparison if we try to compare weights so folks would need to list the options they have along with the weight.
