I had that happen on our 2016 Heartland Bighorn. From the dealer in VA we had both Lippert hydraulic slides coming out about 6 inches. We ended up using ratchet straps underneath holding them in all the way to Key West and back to NH because there wasn't a single mobile tech that understood hydraulics (that is another story).
Long story short, there was a ram that was bypassing the seal. No external leaks. The ram was replaced and we never another issue. I know about the stiction issue and have had that issue on the auto level system in cooler temps. BUT, I have never heard of that as a cause for rams bypassing. Then again, if it isn't happening anymore just keep an eye on it! I suspect that there may be some debris in the system that just moved along.
It's not a good feeling when you look in the mirror, is it !
