    2013 Ram Cummins Diesel 6.7 pull a Solitude 310GK

Hi all. RV dealer said I could pull anything, but I know better. I have a FW now that I weighed loaded with truck. Weight of steer axle 4560, drive axle 6240, trailer axle 10280, gross weight 21080. Current FW has a hitch weight of 2270. Ram weighed by itself with occupants and full tank of gas steer axle 4500, drive axle 3440 and gross 7940. Decal on Ram door is steer axle 5000, rear axle 6200 and GVWR 10,000. I am awful at numbers so if anyone could help, I would appreciate it. I have seen toy haulers go down the road with a 2500 pulling it. I am new to the forum and have finally found where to post this. The Solitude 310GK is what I am looking to buy. It has a hitch weight of 2635 GVWR 15,000 and UVW 12,100 lbs. If this doesn't work for me I will be looking at the Reflection 337RLS. Has anyone full timed in the Reflection? Dealer told me full timing was for Solitude and Reflection more for weekend and vacation. Thanks.

Hi Littlepeach and welcome. I'm sure you saw the link I provided for you on the other thread where you posted this question so I won't repeat but there are lot's of folks here who full time in Reflections. Many in the 337 and even smaller units. While you're researching I would like to give you two pieces of experienced advise.

1.) Don't believe the salesman (sorry Hunter70 ), he's trying to make a sale. Yes your truck can "pull anything". It has the same power plant as the heavier duty trucks but in this game its all about payload and your 3/4 ton truck does not have the payload for this trailer. Are there people out there doing it? Yup, but that doesn't mean it's the right combination.

2.) Never make your calculations based on the weights given in brochures. Those are all dry weights and are truly meaningless. The 310 is significantly heavier on the pin than 2635. CSWine has weighed his at 3100!

Good luck with your decision. The 310 is my favorite GD 5th wheel with the exception of it's storage tank capacities.

You will be way over just about every rating on your truck. Here is the link to our Cat Scale Weight. Note that I was shocked to find out how much we loaded in the 5er since it only took about 1 1/2 for me and my wife to move it from our old 5er to this one. Here is the link to our numbers.

Poppy's Fifth Wheel. I saw your post, but I'm pretty bad when it comes to numbers. Thank you so much for the info and the honest advice. Always nice to get info from someone with experience. I will take a closer look at the Reflection. Looking forward to becoming a member of the Grand Design family! Again, thank you.

I checked your scale weights and yes I see I would be over on all points. Glad I didn't listen to the dealer. You got yourself a really nice rig!! Enjoy and thank you.

I too am very interested in the 310GK and am working through the balancing act of Trailer GVW vs Pin Weight. I have a 2015 F350 Super duty, 4x4, 8' bed, 11,500 GVWR. It's a heavy truck and everyone says I can pull anything (lol). I'm more concerned with stopping. I am considering adding dual pain windows, and am looking for information from informed owners. Since the majority of glass is behind the FW axels, I'm pretty sure the Pin Weight would actually be reduced while GVW is increased. Can someone weigh in on the specifics or tell me where I can get this information. What is impact to FW GVW, Pin Weight, and MSRP cost?

    pane or pain?

    axle or axel?

The lever effect of the glass would be quite negligible

My guess is that tour Ford is a SRW, or else your margin with a DRW would be a lot bigger

The phrases can pull anything and dont know if anything is back there are amusing, and dangerous!

It is smart to be concerned with stopping!
