Another newbie question - unhitching
When making an overnight stop (fifth wheel), do we still have to unhitch from the truck and level?

I'd say it depends on how level the sight is. I've left it hooked up several times.

Theoretically, if you are going to open your slides you should be fairly level.
Disclaimer: Lippert states you should be fully leveled and balanced and supported by your levelers/stabilizers before you open your slides.
Also the fridges need to be fairly level. They're more forgiving than the fridges of years past but still need to be pretty level to be efficient.
I find a spot that is fairly level and stay connected to the truck but drop my front legs for stability. I have done this for years without issue.Paul "Poppy" and Deb Cervone

We have stopped for the night without unhooking truck. I put jacks down manually to level, then run slides out

As Paul says . . . Seldom do we find a site so far out of level that we can't get close to level without unhitching. I have used blocks for side-to-side and the truck airbags for fore-aft to get level without disconnecting. I do put down landing gear and rear stabilizers just enough for stability. Sitting like this right now as a matter of fact .

If am overnighting and the space is pretty level, I leave it hitched. With 3 axles I don't even put down my jacks,
as it is pretty stable as is.Seth and Becca

I know this is an older thread, but....
When putting the jacks down, for the front jacks, I know you can actually have them be at different levels (manually) before lowering them further to support the trailer (taking some weight off the truck). But, is there a way for the rear jacks to be at different levels, also before putting them all the way down?
I hope that's clear?

You should not run the refrigerator for extended amount of time if you are not close to level.
