The Nitrogen Scam
The video below is from Australia that discusses the "snake oil" nitrogen scam. The language is very colorful, and I laughed several times while watching it. And to think GD is still using nitrogen in their tires as a marketing ploy. Enjoy!

Great video. I still know folks that have bought into the nitrogen myth and just cannot accept reason. To each their own and more power to 'em. Thanks for sharing it.

...and how do they get all the "air" out of the tire before filling it with nitrogen to claim "pure nitrogen?"

Jim, I don't think it's possible to remove all the air. Even gas labeled "Nitrogen " will contain a small amount of oxygen and carbon dioxide

I wonder what other elements are found in there after I set the bead with starting fluid?

I must dissent - kinda.
Every aircraft tire manufacturer I know of specifies nitrogen only for their tires. I know that the Goodyear's that are on Gulfstream biz jets use nitrogen. NASCAR race cars also use nitrogen in their tires (as well as compressed nitrogen to run their impact wrenches). Nitrogen is much more stable at elevated temps and doesn't expand any where close to plain old breathing air. The operative word is elevated temps. Cars and trucks and RV's and whatever don't see the extreme temperatures that certain other applications see. When you are dealing in .25lb increments to get a car to handle right, you need an "air" that's stable and won't expand/contract. But in your normal every day grocery getter?? Not so much.
I do have a suggestion to pass along. If you want to lighten your RV or car or truck or whatever that rolls on a tire, Helium - being lighter than "air" - is a good choice.
