Furnace would not work on left side gas...

    Hello

Just picked up 318RST. It's cold at the moment. So on with the furnace. Unfortunately, it would not stay on. Could hear it trying to light, but just would not stay lit. Went thru all the standard checks - propane on, bottles full, no blockages, operated the range...

We we operating of the passenger side bottle - this was the recommendation of the dealer. Operate off one propane bottle, and when it is empty switch to the other and get the empty on filled etc.

Anyhow, eventually switched to drivers side bottle and the furnace works as it should. Tech now says to operate off both bottles at the same time, contrary to what we were told initially.

That is good, but is there anything else we should be looking at here. The tech talked about the passenger side having two regulators and probably not enough to supply enough pressure to operate the furnace.

Does anyone have insights on this please?

    Thanks.

I believe there is a recall on one brand of propane valve used on some GDRV units. You may want to check on the recall. I looked at ours and it was not the subject brand so I never gave it another thought so I don't remember the brand name. Whether you are part of the recall or not GDRV should be able to help it sounds like you may need a new regulator. By the way it seems like the furnace should work on either bottle of gas. Also does you range and water heater operate on the passenger side ok?

Yes, everything else works on the passenger side no problem. That option sounded sus to me, but went with it. Turned on the furnace again today - would not come on with either propane tank! I am not surprised.

I will look into the recall option as well, but will get the dealer to do that given we only picked it up yesterday.

    Thank you.

Wow - that is a long story with lots of trial and error. One would think that GD would have fixed this by now.

    Thanks Jim.

Took the RV back to the dealer today. They pulled out the control board and noticed some water damage on the board. Replaced that and resealed the furnace door. The furnace seems to be working now, but I will be keeping a very close watch on it. Just does not feel like that is the whole solution, but I could be quite wrong - it's happened many times before.

    Thanks to all who helped.
