    Learn From My Pain 308BHTS

I'm not terribly smart, but at least I am consistent. Here are some things I learned this week.

    • Measure twice, cut once.
    • Not everything that looks alike is alike

Let me elaborate. I wanted better mattresses for the kids in bunkhouse, so I bought them. Perfect for what I needed, but needed some size adjustment.

So I measured one of the bunks (driver side). It was 28 3/16" x 72 1/4" (I measured this twice). The large kitchen knife cut the mattresses like butter (cold butter, but still butter). I placed the mattress in the bunk and it was perfect. The taste of success is sweet.

Naturally I assumed the other bunk (passenger side) would be the same size, so I immediately used the previous template to cut the second mattress right away. Butter.

The problem appeared when I placed the trimmed (passenger side) mattress on the bunk. It was way too small. I failed to measure that bunk. Seems like I remember my father saying something about measuring first. They look the same, but they are not.

The (passenger side) bunk measured 73 7/8" x 33 1/8". I quickly pushed the order button again. Lesson learned.

Let my pain be your gain. I have a brand new precisely trimmed (driver side) memory foam mattress that I will get rid of this week. I don't want any money, but you will be responsible for shipping. If nobody bites, its going to the dumpster at work. I live in the Chicago land area if you want to come get it. Message me.

Your experience sounds just like so many of mine. Makes me wonder sometimes how I held down a job.

We've all been down this road . . . but for some reason the lesson doesn't seem to stick .
My favourite is carefully making the mirror image of the part or thing that I need .

if you have the dinette in your 308BHTS you could always save it for the cushions that you sit on. It could be an upgrade!
