If you have the means to do it, and are shopping for a tow vehicle, go for the 450...

Re: Proud new owner of a Momentum 385th
Eddie32. I am towing mine with a 2011 Ford F-350 6.7 Duallie. No problems power wise but I do have to put air bags in the rear to level out the ride. The difference between the 350 and the 450 is only 1600 pounds more towing. The 350 tows 22,400 and the 450 is 24,000. My friend had the 450 and hated the ride and mileage per gallon and traded back to the 350.

Wouldn't the payload and GVWR of the F450 be substantially higher?

Re: Proud new owner of a Momentum 385th
I was curious about the difference between the F350 and F450 so I did some investigating. There's very little if any difference between the two looking at the 2014 specs...seems some of the key components got dropped like 10 bolt 19.5" wheels/tires, heavier rated springs/axles and larger brakes. Mechanically they're the same other than rear axle ratio and therefore, nearly the same towing capacities...even the same base curb weight! I wonder what Ford is thinking that potential F450 customers are paying extra for?
Here's the 2014 specs and for comparison the 2010 specs if anyone's interested...

Re: Proud new owner of a Momentum 385th
Ford is making big changes in the 6.7 for 2015. Goggle 2015 ford super duty truck and click on super duty features improved. The turbo is bigger new fuel pump and improved fuel injection. With these changes they were able to eliminate the wastegate and can tow even more. To get a true f450 you have to purchase a chassis cab which is a lot beefier otherwise it isn't much different than the f350.
